Beautiful Thing starts previews in New York soon (see the link to the left "The Play" for more info).
A new play by Jonathan Harvey, Guiding Star, started previews in London at the Cottesloe Theatre on November 5, 1998.It's still running as of January 21, 1999.
Jonathan is also offering up a new gay BBC sitcom called Gimme, Gimme, Gimme. Some details.
The Australian production last February of Beautiful Thing was so popular the producers decided to take it on tour, but now it looks like the tour is off. The producers have not replied to requests for updated information, and at least one of the theatres where the show was to play has said the booking was cancelled.
Beautiful Thing has finally been released on video in the US at a sell-through price, and is now available in Canada as well. The first DVD version is due in England in January 1999. Unfortunately it's encoded to only play in that area of the world (Region 2), so US fans will have to wait. Sony owns the rights here in the US and is keeping mum about its DVD plans (if any) for the film.
